Last week I post my happiness blog post and now it is time for the opposite. As you see the pictures all share the same theme "GRADUATION", it was a happy event and I was happy but there was sadness in all of us that night. We knew that everyone would be moving and we would no longer see each other every day again. For some of us that is a good thing but there were some perks of high school
Picture One: My favorite picture of all time!! This was taken on the last day of school right before all the seniors bonded over pizza and cake. Most of us had bought senior shirts made by our amazing class mates and for a farewell present from our class officers we got a Kadena flag since "flagging" is a big thing in Okinawa (I have a few failed attempts at flagging so I was happy to receive a flag that was obtained legally). Behind me is the famous "black wall" of Kadena where all the selfies are taken and all the unofficial team pictures are taken. I will forever bleed black and gold. Picture Two: Graduation was a blur for me. I was exhausted from waking up early that morning to go to graduation practice, rushing home to eat take out, getting ready, and going back to school to catch a bus to the venue. I remember sweating under my gown in the back room with all my classmates and trying to make sure my Art Honor Society cord did not fall off. On stage the heat was worse and all of us wanted to go home and sleep. The only thing I remember about walking across the stage was the fear I had that my cap was going to fall off and then the fear that my makeup was messed up from sweating to much. But after receiving my diploma (it was not really in there), we sat down and it hit me that I was done, I was now an adult and off to college. That scared me and sadden me at the same time. Picture Three: After everyone walked across stage all of us had to walk out to the meeting place for parents and friends. One of my close friends who had graduated a year before surprised me with a lei and a hug, which almost made me burst out into tears. But, before the parents walked up to greet us, my friend came up to me and hugged me tightly whispering "I did it Shelby", I was pretty much his savoir freshman year helping him with homework, lending him my notes, and giving him the supplies he always forgot. That moment got me, I had tears rolling down my face but my parents came up and I had to wipe the tears off and replace them with a smile. I was in the worst mood after that, I did not want to take pictures. I wanted to be with my friends. The last picture is a result of me sneaking away from my family to take a picture with my best friend knowing that she too needed a break. Sometimes the happiest of days can be the worst. This was one of the best and worst days for me because finishing highschool meant I had to tell Okinawa goodbye and I do not think I will ever come to terms with that

This post is inspired by the new hashtag floating around Twitter #4PicturesWhereIWasTheHappiest. It was not hard for me to find the pictures that I wanted to use but I only wanted to share three moments. Happiness is different for every person and some moments stand out more to others.
Picture One: This was taken by my mom in Hawaii. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the private pool our tower had and had a beautiful view of the ocean. Hawaii is so beautiful and is one of my favorite places. Being with my family on our last trip together before I go off to college was amazing and I am so happy that we got to visit Hawaii one more time. Picture Two: This too, was taken by my mom but the location is different, this is overlooking Bondi Beach in Australia. When you think about the weather in December and January you do not think it is beach weather but it was summer in Australia and we had to soak up the sun. This breathtaking view is one for the history books and I am so happy I got to take it in myself. Picture Three: Not a travel related moment but a moment that I will never forget. My best friend Lilly and I have been friends for a long time and this was the last high school event for our high school career (I guess graduation is technically the last event). We have been by each others side through every homecoming dance and prom and I was so glad we got to spend one last formal event together. Who else would I pose with in the photo booth? After reading this blog post stop and think, what are the 4 or 3 pictures you have where you were the happiest? Being overseas I did not have access to Goodwill and I was so excited to come back so I could do some thrift shopping. The reason I went is because I am going to Music Midtown in September and I wanted some clothes that were cute for the festival but if they got ruined it would be okay because they did not break the bank when I bought them. I do not want them to get ruined because I am obsessed with what I got but if it happens it happens. This shirt has an interesting texture to it but when I tried it on I was not mad at how it felt, This is for day two of the festival which I am going to pair with a black bralette, leggings, and Toms. I want to be relaxed on day two and it has pockets. That was the main reason of buying it, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and start to explore new styles of clothing and I have never worn a pocket shirt/ This beauty is my day one outfit. I did not want to wear a dress but it is flowy and I had a pocket made into one side of the dress for my phone or for my tickets. I wanted to go with simple for this festival instead of wearing about twenty different things of my outfit that I need to watch out for. I was in line to checkout when I saw this dress on the incoming rack. I was shopping for festival clothes but I could not leave this beauty behind. The size was a double XL but I got it taken in and pockets added under the waist frills for some secret pocket action. I love this piece so much even though some of the pattern in messed up but it was only 2 dollars.
xx until next time Let me first start out with saying that I love this store and there should be one in every mall. Each wall has a different style of clothing and there is so much to pick from and the dressing rooms make you feel like a queen with a personal stylist if you ask for one. I was so happy that I stumbled upon this store whilst passing through Virginia. I stumbled upon this bralette and I fell in love with the detail and how smooth it felt on my skin. When we got up to the register they told us it was a 2 for 1 sale so I went back and bought a grey one that is the exact same. I am not going to into detail because you will see them again soon in an upcoming lookbook. I was shopping for more adult looking clothes like fancier things but I am a college student and I do not want to dress up all the time so I picked this up. It is so soft and it has a relaxed fit so I bought a size smaller than I was and I wanted to leave the store in it. This dress is so soft and amazing but it is on the short side. The cut out sleeves and placed perfectly so your bra strap won't show. It is short and shows a little cheek but with some leggings underneath it will make for a great fall/winter dress. I did not buy a lot because this store can break the bank. The bralette that I got was about 25 dollars so that gives you an idea on how much the rest cost. But I love this little hidden gem store and I will be coming back
XX until next time This is a very sappy series that I have been working on for the past four months. For the first two months it was mostly research and finding the right pictures for the series. They are not my pictures, but they are beautiful vintage pictures that I have found in the deep dark corner of the internet. The last two months were the months that I sat at a computer for hours on end drawing hearts on the tablet and placing them in the right spots. The most hearts that I did on one pictures was 350 and that took me two hours to do. I hope you enjoy my hard work, this series is an ongoing series and I will be making a final post when I am sure I am finished. Sydney is the prettiest city and most expensive city I have ever been to. Culture shock was real the moment we stepped off the plane and I have Sydney withdraw whilst looking at these pictures. Whoever lives in Sydney and wants to support me, please contact me. Sydney Harbor BridgeI couldn't help and be a tourist when it came to the sights that were all around. I have about a billion pictures of the bridge and opera house. We could see the bridge from our hotel room and that's where everything kicked off for New Years. The fireworks and the crowds were amazing and that was a once and a life time experience. Sydney OPERa HOUSeThe opera house was breathtaking and I could not control my excitement walking around it. My family and I were three of a million tourists that were at the opera house. I was lucky to have a hotel near it because getting just one picture was impossible. ANimalsFun fact: Koalas are as soft as they look. Second fun fact: Encinias are the cutest things in the world Third fun fact: Kangaroos are the sweetest when they need food Bondi beachThe last stop on my getaway was the beach!! Well I didn't actually step foot onto Bondi Beach because it was soooo crowded. I ended up going to Icebergs Pool which was a salt water pool where the water entered straight from the ocean. The water was freezing but, it was the best sight I saw on my trip.
Until next time xx When in Australia you have the chance to accessorize with some cute animals!! It was nice to take a break for a bit but I still liked to dress to impress. My first outfit was for a colder day in the Aussie summer with a knit black cardigan, white tank top, bikini top and some basic black leggings. Even on the cool days there is always an opportunity to take a dip when needed so I was always prepared. On Christmas Day, my family and I explored the Great Barrier Reef and some fine stand beaches. Let's just say it was the most relaxing Christmas I have ever had and also the hottest. The dress that I am wearing in this picture was bought at a market on the beach but I found a similar one here. News Year Eve, we did what every Australian was doing and we went boating across the harbour. I felt so posh and so amazing it was so tempting to take a bunch of pictures but I settled with this picture. This dress was bought so many years ago and nothing can compare to this dress, it is amazing and I wish Rue21 still sold it. Paired with the dress I put thigh high black socks on to warm me up from the breeze and classic black platform booties that aren't pictured.
My holiday was amazing and I had so many more outfits but so little time to document them sadly. Until next time xx This is the first art collection of mine that I will be featuring on my blog. Being a photographer, you learn to hate your work once you see it but I am very proud of this collection and I am putting this collection out, hoping it makes some kind of difference. This collection is not finished but,the message is clear. "Nobody Puts A Female In The Corner" touches on domestic violence and neglect. Not everyone has bruises to show or stories that they verbally express. You have to look carefully at each victim because every victim of abuse did not go through the same thing. Domestic abuse is a serious matter and some of these images may be triggering for some. I am not using this as a light matter just for the sake of art. If you are suffering for any form of domestic abuse please do not hesitate to call the hotline or get in touch with someone who can help you. Prints of these pictures are up for sell, just message me for pricing and shipping information. every cent made off of this collection will go straight to "The National Domestic Violence Hotline" This place is absolute madness but, what do you expect from Japan? This is my second time at the Robot Restaurant and it still surprised me with all the colors and sounds. I highly recommend you come here for the full crazy experience. If you are sensitive to bright lights and loud sounds this is not for you. The best way to describe it is a sit down rave. The show has so much going on that it is hard to get bored. Everytime I go to Tokyo this is the first place I want to go. At the end of the show the workers ask you to join in with the rave and that is when things get utterly crazy and exciting. I will never forget my experiences with the Robot Restaurant.
Until next time xx My lifestyle involves constant traveling and over the years I have learned what to pack and how to pack it. You have already seen my outfits from the trip and this is what I packed to make sure I looked good every day For this trip I bought a set of three makeup bags from the Japanese dollar store. They are clear and easy to clean. But, they real reason I bought them was because of the saying, I always love things like that. In the big bag with most of the important stuff I had to pack everything in. My straightener was in there at first but I just ended up wrapping it in some clothes in my suitcase. I have my paddle brush, under eye masks to hydrate my eyes after every day of being in the cold, my Pantene hydrating hair serum sample that they were so kind to send me; this is a lifesaver because I have newly colored hair and dead ends, it made my hair feel and smell amazing all day, and my Limited Edition Rue21 perfume, even though it is winter I like to wear a special summer scent to cheer me up and warm me up. The two small bags had my toothbrush and toothpaste and various staple makeup products that I just put together. Just your basic drugstore makeup needs. This is not beauty related at all but it was an essential item on the trip. Everyone who travels and has a phone needs one of these. Mobile power banks are a huge deal in Japan and I jumped right on board. This can charge your device about three times from 0 to 100 percent in about 30 minutes. I think this is the proudest purchase of my entire life and when it breaks I will be devastated because this is something that I use almost every day now. Until next time xx
